Terms of Service

1. The Basics

Welcome to ClippyAI ("Clippy", "we", "us"). By installing, using, or subscribing to ClippyAI, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use Clippy.

ClippyAI is a desktop AI agent for macOS and Windows that can chat, see your screen, and perform desktop actions on your behalf. It runs on your computer and connects to our backend service for AI processing.

2. Free Plan & Free Trial

The Free plan costs nothing, requires no credit card, and stays free forever — chat plus screen-aware tips, with a monthly token allowance. It does not include desktop, browser, or document automation.

The Power plan includes a 7-day free trial. You can cancel any time before the trial ends to avoid being billed. After the 7 days, your card is charged and the subscription begins.

The Max plan does not include a free trial — you're charged immediately on subscribe, since it includes premium voice, the largest token allowance, and early access.

3. Plans & Subscriptions

ClippyAI is offered on the following plans:

  • Free — $0/month forever, 100K tokens, chat + screen-aware tips (no automation)
  • Power — $19.99/month, 5M tokens, full desktop + browser automation, multi-monitor, custom personas, priority support · 7-day free trial
  • Max — $39.99/month, 20M tokens, everything in Power plus premium voice, a deep-reasoning brain, and early access · charged immediately, no trial

All plans run capable OpenAI GPT models. Free and Power include full chat and automation capability. Max additionally runs at higher reasoning effort — a genuinely deeper-thinking tier that produces more thorough responses on complex tasks. Paid plans also add larger token allowances and voice features.

Paid subscriptions auto-renew each month until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from the Stripe Customer Portal (link in your welcome email) or from Settings → Manage Subscription inside Clippy. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

4. Refunds

The Power plan includes a 7-day free trial with no card charged until day 7, so you can fully test Clippy before paying. After payment, charges are generally non-refundable.

We grant manual exceptions for:

  • Duplicate billing
  • Accidental renewal without subsequent usage
  • Service outages that prevent meaningful use

Email hello@clippyai.app with your order details and we review within one business day. Max subscribers (no trial) follow the same exception policy. See the Refund Policy for full details.

If you cancel mid-month you keep access until the end of your current billing period; no partial refund is issued.

5. Token Quotas

Each plan includes a monthly token quota (Free 100K, Power 5M, Max 20M). When you hit your quota, Clippy will stop responding until your billing period resets or you upgrade.

Token counts are measured against the underlying AI provider (currently OpenAI). Approximately 1 message ≈ 500 tokens.

6. Acceptable Use

Don't use Clippy to:

  • Break the law (your country's laws or anyone else's)
  • Spam, scam, harass, or harm other people
  • Generate hateful, illegal, or harmful content
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our prompts/models
  • Build a competing product using our API
  • Share your license key with others — one license = one user

We may suspend or terminate your account for any of the above without refund.

7. AI Disclaimers

Clippy uses a third-party large language model (currently OpenAI's GPT models) to generate responses. AI can be wrong. AI can hallucinate. AI can take incorrect actions on your computer.

You are responsible for what you ask Clippy to do. If you tell Clippy to delete a file and he deletes it, that's on you. If Clippy clicks the wrong button, that's on the AI. If you're doing something important, supervise Clippy or do it yourself.

Clippy will refuse to perform destructive actions (sending messages, deleting files, making purchases) without your explicit confirmation, but always double-check his work for anything irreversible.

8. Service Availability

We aim for high uptime but we don't guarantee 100% availability. Clippy depends on:

  • Cloudflare Workers (for the backend)
  • Supabase (for the database)
  • OpenAI API (for the AI)
  • Your internet connection

If any of these go down, Clippy may be partially or fully unavailable. We'll do our best to communicate outages.

9. Changes to the Service

We may add, remove, or change features, pricing, and limits at any time. For material changes that affect paying subscribers, we'll give at least 14 days notice via email.

10. Termination

You can cancel anytime. We can terminate your account if you violate these Terms. After termination, your local Clippy install will stop working when the trial/subscription expires, but the app stays on your computer until you uninstall it.

11. Limitation of Liability

ClippyAI is provided "as is". To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Clippy. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where ClippyAI is registered. Any disputes will be resolved in good faith first; if we can't agree, we'll use the local courts of that jurisdiction.

13. Trademarks & Independence

ClippyAI is an independent product operated by Cloudana. ClippyAI is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft Corporation.

Microsoft, Windows, Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, Bing, Edge, the Microsoft logo, and the original Office Assistant character ("Clippy") are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation. References to these marks within ClippyAI's interface, documentation, or marketing are nominative — used only to describe interoperability, compatibility, or nostalgic homage, not to imply any business relationship.

The original 1997-era Microsoft Office Assistant artwork remains the intellectual property of Microsoft. ClippyAI's character is an original design inspired by that era of computing.
