Refund Policy
The Short Version
The Free plan is free forever — no card, no charge, nothing to refund. The Power plan includes a full 7-day free trial: no credit card is charged until day 7, so you get a full week to test Clippy on your own machine, with your own apps, doing your own tasks — and can cancel any time before the trial ends.
The Max plan does not include a free trial — Max subscribers are charged immediately on signup, since it includes premium voice, the largest token allowance, and early access.
After payment, charges are generally non-refundable. We grant manual exceptions for: duplicate billing, accidental renewal without subsequent usage, and service outages that prevent meaningful use. Email hello@clippyai.app with your order details and we'll review within one business day.
Why No Refunds?
Three reasons:
- The trial is real. Not a "trial that's actually a paid plan with a promo code". On Power, you can cancel before day 7 and never get charged. And the Free plan lets you use Clippy indefinitely at no cost.
- AI costs are real and immediate. Every time Clippy thinks, that costs us money on the upstream AI provider. Refunding a month means we ate the cost.
- Keeps the price low. Refund fraud is a tax that gets baked into the price for everyone. By saying "no refunds, but try first", we keep Clippy affordable for everyone.
The Three Manual-Exception Cases
We grant refunds case-by-case for these situations. Email hello@clippyai.app with your order details and we'll review within one business day.
- Duplicate billing. If you were charged twice for the same plan, we refund the duplicate immediately.
- Accidental renewal without usage. If you forgot to cancel before the Power trial ended and haven't used the app in the renewed period, we'll refund the charge.
- Service outage. If our service is down on our end for an extended period and you can't use Clippy meaningfully, we'll refund pro-rated, or extend your subscription, your choice.
This applies equally to the Power and Max plans.
Cancelling
You can cancel anytime from your account page or by emailing us. When you cancel:
- You keep access until the end of your current billing period
- You won't be charged again
- No partial refund for the remaining days
- You can resubscribe anytime with the same email
Chargebacks
Please don't file chargebacks. They cost us $15 each plus the disputed amount, and they often result in your account being locked at the payment processor level. If you have a problem, email us first — we're real people and we'll work it out.
